Jerry Jao
Co–founder and CEO, Retention Science
Jerry was born to be an entrepreneur. At the age of 8, he started an enterprising after school business making $3 a day by recycling his classmates’ plastic cans. His passion for e-Commerce continued to grow as he started selling comic books and video games online. His early experiences operating as an online retailer enabled him to see the wealth of opportunity that existed in building technologies to enable e-retailers to be more effective in growing their businesses.
Beyond his core e-Commerce background, Jerry has a diverse set of experiences that have shaped the vision and development of Retention Sciences. As an analyst with Morgan Stanley, and an engagement manager with BearingPoint Management Consulting (KPMG Advisory), he advised FORTUNE 50 companies and learned first hand the needs of large enterprise customers. He then was an advisor to the CFO of Clear Channel, working on digital sales initiatives and iHeartRadio. Most recently, Jerry founded two e-Commerce marketing technology companies, where he worked with countless business owners to understand their urgent needs for customer retention solutions first hand. Jerry serves on the board of director of Penango, an enterprise email and cloud security company.
Jerry is a graduate of UC Berkeley, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration and a full-tuition scholarship as an Alumni Scholar, and Yale School of Management.
